PRO-EVOLUTION SITES THAT ADDRESS INTELLIGENT DESIGN

EVIDENCE FOR GOD FROM SCIENCE

One of the best creation-oriented sites, very well researched. Includes the following articles of special interest to the topic of intelligent design:

  • Evidence for the Fine Tuning of the Universe
-- The constants of the laws of physics have been finely tuned to a degree not possible through human engineering, Four of the more finely tuned numbers are included in the table on this page.
  • The Incredible Design of the Earth and Our Solar System
-- The universe, our galaxy, our Solar System and the Earth-Moon double planet system demonstrate some remarkable evidence of intelligent design. Taken separately, each characteristic is highly improbable by random chance. When taken together, the probability is so small as to be impossible - by random chance.
  • General Rebuttal to the Theory of Evolution
-- the logical predictions of evolutionary theories do not match the actual data. Either 1) evolution is a very random process that does not follow the usual rules of biology and chemistry or 2) life was not created through evolutionary mechanisms.

  • NEW CiS-St. Edmunds Public Lectures
The objective of this CiS-St Edmund's Public Lecture series is to explore the relationship between Christianity and issues in science and society. The papers and ensuing discussion are published on this web-site to provide wider dissemination of the ideas and issues raised. The lectures are organised by the Cambridge Christians in Science (CiS) group, in association with St Edmund's College Cambridge, and funding has been provided by the Templeton Foundation.

  • The Creation-Evolution Encyclopedia On-line
Contends that an "astounding amount of scientific evidence disproving evolutionary theory" has been uncovered. Here is part of that evidence.

  • Design Inference
A page for mathematician and a philosopher, William A. Dembski, associate research professor in the conceptual foundations of science at Baylor University and a senior fellow with Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture in Seattle. He is also the executive director of the International Society for Complexity, Information, and Design (www.iscid.org).

  • Dialogue: When Faith and Reason Clash: Evolution and the Bible A discussion of the issues which emerged from Notre Dame philosopher Alvin Plantinga's "When Faith and Reason Clash: Evolution and the Bible." The dialogue began in The Christian Scholar's Reviewand moved to Perspectives on Science and Christian Faith. This conversation touches on many of the issues that have concerned the more than 140 year discussion by Christians on Evolution.

  • False Conflict by Rodney Stark
"Christians developed science because they believed it could--and should--be done. Alfred North Whitehead, the great philosopher and mathematician, co-author with Bertrand Russell of the landmark Principia Mathematica, credited 'medieval theology' for the rise of science. He pointed to the 'insistence on the rationality of God,' which produced the belief that 'the search into nature could only result in the vindication of the faith.'"

  • Focus on Education
A Focus on the Family page providing resources on issues of education of interest to conservative Christians. For anyone unfamiliar with the debate, The World of Design by Mark Hartwig, Ph.D. is a useful primer.

  • For God's Eye by Charles Murray
"Great art requires a source of inspiration that today’s artists are not tapping. It requires an articulation of the human place in the cosmos, a clear understanding of the ends toward which humans should aim, and exalted standards for seeking those ends. Cultures in which the creative elites are not engaged in mature reflection on these matters don’t produce great art."

  • The Galileo Syndrome by Phillip E. Johnson
"Today the scientific profession has firmly grasped the authority once possessed by the Catholic Church and contested by Galileo, the power to judge which claims have the status of knowledge and which do not. Like the Church of Galileo’s day, the Church of Science can tolerate almost any concept if it remains no more than a hypothesis or metaphor, provisionally adopted as an aid to understanding and not advocated as literally true."

  • The Gods Must Be Tidy!
"In summary, virtually the entire bad-design versus good-design discussion is framed by an engineer’s perspective, not an artist’s or mystic’s. When I mentioned this to the philosopher Jay W. Richards a few years ago, he responded in a letter: “After all, why do we assume that God created the universe to be a watch, in which a self-winding mechanism makes it ‘better’? Maybe the universe is like a piano, or a novel with the author as a character, or a garden for other beings with whom God wants to interact."

  • NEW ID the Future
A blog authored by Michael Behe, William Dembski, Guillermo Gonzales, Steve Meyer, Paul Nelson, Jay Richards, Jonathan Wells and Jonathan Witt. Explores issues central to the case for intelligent design from big bang to the bacterial flagellum and beyond.

  • Institute for Creation Research
The Institute for Creation Research exists to train students in scientific research and teaching skills, preparing effective warriors for the faith.

  • Intelligent Design and Evolution Awareness (IDEA) Club
The IDEA Club meets on a weekly basis to discuss topics pertinent to creation and evolution. These topics range from the fossil record to the philosophy of science, from proteins to artificial intelligence, and from intelligent design theory to the big bang.

  • Intelligent Design Network, New Mexico Division
The purposes of IDnet-NM are to promote unbiased evidence-based science education with respect to the teaching of cosmological and biological origins; enhance public awareness of the evidence of intelligent design in the cosmos and in living things; and to inform the public of the underlying philosophical, religious, scientific, and legal issues surrounding the teaching of origins science in public schools.

  • International Society for Complexity, Information, and Design
The International Society for Complexity, Information, and Design (ISCID) is a cross-disciplinary professional society that investigates complex systems apart from external programmatic constraints like materialism, naturalism, or reductionism. The society provides a forum for formulating, testing, and disseminating research on complex systems through critique, peer review, and publication. Its aim is to pursue the theoretical development, empirical application, and philosophical implications of information- and design-theoretic concepts for complex systems.

  • Reasons to Believe
Site of Dr. Hugh Ross - an excellent source for science articles.

  • Science and Apologetics Research Forum
This site exists to: 1. Promote critical thought and quality scholarship in scientific and theological study; 2. Show that science and Christianity are not at odds; and 3. Address questions and issues & irrational philosophies such as naturalism, relativism and others, which often corrupt science & Christianity through a lack of critical thought.

  • Signs of Intelligence? -- What the neo-Darwinists don't understand about theories of Intelligent Design.
"But while the would-be Darwins might have succeeded in dismissing ID on scientific grounds, their argument has been less convincing in a secondary aim. Much of the controversy surrounding their hero derives from an aspect of Darwinism (as currently construed) that is itself unscientific; one might even say, if not "religious," distinctly political--Darwinism's vaguely defined but apparent relationship to atheism."

  • Debating Darwin: the 'intelligent design' movement; a new generation of anti evolutionists has arisen based on the perceived inadequacies of Darwin's theory. (analyses of books that support the theory of Christian theism and a God-created universe) by Edward B. Davis, originally published in the Christian Century, July 15, 1998.
"Pointing out the inadequacies of any received theory, including Darwinian theory, is important work. But to my mind, the most important part of the ID program is not what it denies but what it affirms, namely, that some real causes might not be purely mechanistic, and that this line of inquiry might prove productive."
